Ella Mae Morse

ELLA MAE MORSE, one of the earliest white R&B performers, was hired by Dorsey at 14. Along with pianist Freddie Slack she recorded Cow Cow Boogie in 1942, a hit on the Race charts and Pop. Soon after she recorded Mr Five by Five, Buzz Me, Down the Road a Piece, Razzle Dazzle, Blacksmith Blues and House of Blue Lights, which has a cool-cat, rappy opening.
