The Great Pretender

The Great Pretender

This romantic ballad was released in 1955 and written by Buck Ram who also gave us “Only You”, “The Magic Touch” and “Twilight Time”. It was the first R&B ballad to soar to #1 R&B and #1 POP. And a cheek to cheek favorite at every black dance hall and every white sock hop. It’s on the NPR’s Top 100 Most Important Musical Works.

Featuring Tony Williams on lead & Herb Reed crooning bass...THE GREAT PRETENDER by the one and only PLATTERS.
