This romantic ballad was released in 1955 and written by Buck Ram who also gave us “Only You”, “The Magic Touch” and “Twilight Time”. It was the first R&B ballad to soar to #1 R&B and #1 POP. And a cheek to cheek favorite at every black dance hall and every white sock hop. It’s on the NPR’s Top 100 Most Important Musical Works.
Featuring Tony Williams on lead & Herb Reed crooning bass…THE GREAT PRETENDER by the one and only PLATTERS.
